Chapter 10: Living Oneness

“Can you coax your mind from its wandering
and keep to the original oneness?
Can you let your body become
as supple as a newborn child’s?
Can you cleanse your inner vision
until you see nothing but the light?
Can you love people and lead them
without imposing your will?
Can you deal with the most vital matters
by letting events take their course?
Can you step back from your own mind
and thus understand all things?”

This verse invites us to return to our original nature—the state of oneness with the Tao, the Divine, the Infinite. It asks us to still the mind, soften the body, clear the heart, and lead from a place of non-interference.

Wayne Dyer highlights that the Tao is not something to be attained, but something we already are—it’s our essence, before ego, before striving, before separation. Living in oneness means releasing the illusion of separateness, and recognising that everything, everyone, and every moment is a part of the same Source energy.

The power in this chapter lies in the questions. These questions are like gentle spiritual koans, pulling us back into mindfulness, self-inquiry, and surrender.

Practice inner stillness to quiet the wandering mind.

Actionable Steps: Living Oneness

Let that awareness expand to people, challenges, and even your own emotions.

  1. Quiet the Wandering Mind

Start each morning with 5–10 minutes of stillness. No phone, no agenda—just breath.

When your thoughts drift, gently bring yourself back with the question:
“What is here now if I don’t follow this thought?”

2. Cultivate Softness and Flexibility

Do gentle movement daily: stretching, yoga, or simply conscious walking.

Feel your body as part of the Earth, not separate from it. Let it teach you presence.

3. See with a Pure Heart

Cleanse your “inner vision” by removing judgement from your observations.

Practise seeing situations, people, or yourself without labelling—just witnessing.

4. Lead with Non-Interference

In a moment of leadership (at home, work, or in your community), ask:
“Am I guiding or controlling?”

Step back and trust others’ inner wisdom. Let the Tao lead through you, not just from you.

5. Trust the Flow of Events

When life brings uncertainty or change, instead of resisting, repeat:
“Let events take their course. I stay rooted in the Tao.”

Observe how peace arises when you stop trying to “fix” everything.

6. Recognise Unity in All Things

In nature, notice how everything is interconnected: wind, leaves, sky, birds.

Say silently: “This is me. I am this.”

Affirmation for Chapter 10:

“I return to the oneness of the Tao. I live with softness, clarity, and trust. I guide without control and love without grasping.”
